Reddschift specialized in the study of energy acceleration and developed crystallic rods, a potentially unlimited power source. This led to him being kidnapped by Zurg, and forced to share his knowledge. He managed to escape to a ruined city on Planet Z and sent a distress signal to Star Command, so Team Lightyear were dispatched to rescue him.^[1]

While Buzz stayed behind to prepare, Mira, Booster and XR were tasked with protecting Reddschift from Zurg's endless robots.^[2]
